Scores going into Final:
Earl 16,500
Trey 16,000
Dennis 8,750

Final Results:
Dennis 8,750 + 250 = 9,000
Trey 16,000 – 1,502 = 14,498 (Who is Baba Booey?)
Earl 16,500 + 15,501 = 32,001 (6-day total: $30,000)

Well, this game was certainly a lot closer! Earl battled back in Double Jeopardy, aided by the Daily Doubles, but he needed to get the final 500 point clue of Double Jeopardy to take the lead!

In better news: This game was actually a good one for training my Sports Jeopardy! prediction model. Because we’re only at the 57-game mark of “winner keeps playing”, the correlations between Coryat and win percentage, while still existing, aren’t quite as strong yet as for the regular game (trained with data back to 2004) and thus I update the model after every game (whereas I only update the Jeopardy! model at a tournament break). However, the outcome of this game put the r-square value of my new trendline up to 0.91 (from 0.88), as it brought a couple of outlier results back closer to the mean. I’d still like more data (obviously!), but I’m still satisfied with how things are looking.
