On March 21 airing Rebecca Wald’s answer of patronage would have been acceptable to Brittanica as an alternative to spoils system, thus you incorrectly deprived her of continuing onto Final Jeopardy

    • Joyce:

      • This is a fan site with zero affiliation with Jeopardy! Productions, Inc. I had no part in “incorrectly depriving [Rebecca] of continuing onto Final Jeopardy”.
      • While Britannica does give “patronage system” as a 21st-century alternative, in the days of WH Harrison, and until the Arthur administration and the passing of the Pendleton Act, it was solely known as the “spoils system”. Thus, I believe the judges were correct to ask for Rebecca to be more specific here.
