More information about Final Jeopardy:
After the smashing sucess of The Book of Mormon, the LDS Church bought advertising in the playbill for the Los Angeles production of the musical. The church’s official response to the musical when it was released in 2011 was:
The production may attempt to entertain audiences for an evening, but the Book of Mormon as a volume of scripture will change people’s lives forever by bringing them closer to Christ.
The church was generally praised for its bold position in electing not to protest the musical, instead simply encouraging people to learn more about their beliefs.

Finally all clues revealed and oh so close! Would fortunately not have made a difference……and the string of 1 day champs continues. Congrats and let’s see if Henry can overcome the “jinx” and put a row of wins together!?
The correct Final response is so long with “what is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?”
Unfair for the clue to have a long response. How many times has that happened?
“Who are the Mormons?” probably gets marked acceptable. Plus, it’s harder to flub!
Considering that “LDS Church” is equally acceptable, I vehemently disagree that this Final is unfair.
Oh! At least one of them should have only wrote down: LDS Church, the Mormons, or Mormon Church.
They could have taken a more elegant clue to close out the year, maybe even another category.
Henry can say something that not many can say:
“I have been on back to back episodes on J and that for two years in a row”. Ambiguous, I know, but true since he closed out 2017 and will start 2018 (never mind that the episodes were taped way earlier) Depends how you interpret it. :):):)
To all of you: have a great New Year’s Eve, ring in a healthy, peaceful and prosperous 2018 safely and with that I wish you a
A HAPPY NEW YEAR
A ME KA HAU'OLI MAKAHIKI HOU !
Would the JCoLDS church been acceptable?
I’ve never seen it referred to that way, so I can’t speak for the judges on that one.
Joseph Smith started the LDS church but broke away from it due to a conflict with Brigham Young and created the Reorganized LDS church and eventually build the church in Plano, IL.
What’s the longest string of 1-day champions? Now feels like a fairly long stretch.
We’re only at 6, by my count. I think the record is somewhere around 15.
Thanks, Andy.
Being 50 years old helps to answer the Pinto car triple stumper. If you are 50 and actually paid attention to life then the 1970s are just current events questions. The downside to being 50 is I don’t know one song by Ariana grande, lorde, macklemore, or even Albacore hahaha. I guess that’s why God invented YouTube.
What do you call a group of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints members? Why Mormons, of course! It’s rare that a Final would be that long. However, I recall Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band not too long ago. (I believe Andy said they’ve accepted Sgt. Peppers before.) I’ll take the TSF. Nice way to end my Jeopardy! year.
Peace, love, and soul…

There was a movie mentioned as an answer to one of the clues tonight. Anyone remember what the movie was?!? (I’m wracking my brain trying to remember anymore details, like category, what the movie was about, which actor was mentioned, but as of right now I’ve got nothing. Just remember thinking, I’d like to watch that. And now it’s driving me nuts trying to remember)
I took a quick look through the game and some movies (or TV things) mentioned directly or indirectly were:
Fantastic 4
Iron Man
Thor
Captain America
Roots
Handmaid’s Tale
Wizard of Oz
Gypsy
The Insider
Thank you Mark! It was The Insider! With Russel Crowe about Big Tobacco! Ahhh to have DVR again…
