Happy Thursday! It is Day 9 of Bill Whitaker’s guest-host stint. Thus far, $212,799 has been donated by Jeopardy! to Media Fellowship House. Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Children’s Books) for Thursday, May 13, 2021 (Season 37, Game 164):
The last book Dr. Seuss published in his lifetime, it climbs bestseller lists every spring
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s contestants:
Susan Schulman, a baker from Alexandria, Virginia![]() |
Matt McAndrews, a marketer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania![]() |
Amanda Ganske, a product marketing manager from Austin, Texas (1-day total: $14,000)![]() |
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: Amanda won the lowest-scoring game of Bill Whitaker’s hosting tenure thus far, picking up only $14,000. But the wins all count the same on the scoreboard, and she goes up against Matt and Susan today. Amanda’s best chances at victory will come if she has fewer incorrect responses—she had 4 yesterday.
PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they are able to. When wearing a mask, ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

I understand that Matt’s answer was incorrect, but that FJ was painful to watch. You spend years taking the online test, get through multiple rounds of qualifying games. Then you finally get on national television and lose like that
This game represented the second time in just a couple weeks that a contestant was a middle aged, dark haired woman who identified as a “baker”.
