Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category The 21st Century) for Thursday, September 16, 2021 (Season 38, Game 4):
In 2009 this 11-year-old started posting on BBC’s Urdu language website under the screen name Gul Makai
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s contestants:
Keisha Virtue, a senior retail research analyst from Boca Raton, Florida![]() |
Emily Sharp-Kellar, a medical school director of admissions from Chicago, Illinois![]() |
Matt Amodio, a Ph.D student from New Haven, Connecticut (21-day total: $740,001)![]() |
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: Thus far in his run, Matt Amodio’s performances have tailed off slightly near the end of a week (compared to the beginning of a week); I would venture that he is slightly more likely to lose on a Thursday or a Friday as he starts to tire.
PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they are able to. When wearing a mask, ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

More information about Final Jeopardy: (The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2021 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)
Malala Yousafzai (known worldwide mononymously as Malala) is a Pakistani activist and winner of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize. Malala is best known for her advocacy regarding the education of women worldwide; the Taliban in Pakistan at times barred her and others from receiving education, going as far as to have her shot at and nearly killed on a school bus in 2012. Her blog was started in 2009 to talk about her life during the Taliban’s occupation of the Swat district in Pakistan.
Gul Makai is also the name of a 2020 biopic about Malala’s life so far.

Andy’s Thoughts:
- Matt becomes the 31st player since October 2004 to win a regular-play game after being below $0 going into Double Jeopardy; the most recent before him was Zach Newkirk on June 9, 2020.
- I was worried about today’s game when I saw that Good Morning America had done a piece about Matt.
- Matt has now passed David Madden for 4th in all-time winnings on the program.
