The Medici family was a famous Florentine family who rose to prominence in the 15th century through the Medici Bank in Florence. The family ended up producing four popes (Leo X, Clement VII, Pius IV, and Leo XI) and two queens of France (Catherine de’ Medici and Marie de’ Medici). Their promotion of the arts, along with other Italian noble families, inspired the Italian Renaissance.

Today’s interviews:
Henry got his dog from a prison.
Lynde got to spend a month at Disney in Orlando.
Carter wants to buy a T-shirt cannon with his winnings.
Andy’s Thoughts:
- This was a very interesting Final Jeopardy! betting scenario, one that I don’t think that J! Archive’s wagering calculator gets right. (At least not for third place.)
- Today’s episode was taped December 14, a couple of weeks before Betty White’s death. (I hope that the clue about her in TV DOUBLE TAKES being a Triple Stumper doesn’t go viral—this clue became much easier since taping.)
- Kudos to Lynde’s performance in Double Jeopardy, both for her True Daily Double and her comeback afterwards, picking up $6,000. I wouldn’t be opposed to Lynde returning in the Second Chance tournament.

Hmm… Italian family, whose name suggests the trade of “physician”. Yeah, thank goodness for the easy ones!
@Andy – Yeah, I can’t figure the suggested wager for Lynde. She should wager at least 1000 to catch Carter if he makes the rational wager and is wrong.
Yes, one wrong DD answer kept Lynde from winning this game. Give the young lady a second chance.
I can’t keep from thinking about Lynde being from Louisville, Colorado taping this show two weeks before a wildfire on Dec. 30th [the day before Betty White’s death] destroyed nearly 1,000 homes there!
Since there is probably not an algorithm or any metrics that can clearly and equitably narrow down the possible candidates to the needed quantity of those MOST appropriate, they will probably have to (to some degree) choose based on audience appeal, so (especially if she did lose her house, but even regardless) I feel that this plus her play on this episode should make Lynde be chosen as one of the Second Chance contestants.
A good, closely contested match between three likeable contestants.
