Today’s Final Jeopardy – Tuesday, February 22, 2022

Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category American Women) for Tuesday, February 22, 2022 (Season 38, Game 117):

In 1914 she received a patent on a trefoil emblem, which she would transfer to an organization a few years later

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s contestants:

Holly Ambler, a user experience researcher from Seattle, Washington
Holly Ambler on Jeopardy!
Hieu Ton-That, a trauma surgeon from Chicago, Illinois
Hieu Ton-That on Jeopardy!
Henry Rozycki, a physician & professor from Richmond, Virginia (1-day total: $20,101)
Henry Rozycki on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: Henry Rozycki continued the carousel of recent champions with his victory on yesterday’s program. Today, Hieu Ton-That and Holly Ambler are today’s challengers. Henry actually had the least number of buzzer attempts of yesterday’s three players—but, of course, that’s not the stat the counts in the end.

In other Jeopardy! news, the final of the 2022 Jeopardy! National College Championship airs tonight on ABC prime time (8:00 Eastern/Pacific, 7:00 Mountain/Central), as UT-Austin’s Jaskaran Singh, Northeastern’s Liz Feltner, and Kennesaw State’s Raymond Goslow do battle for a $250,000 first prize. (You can find the recap for the game here.)

PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they are able to, including any boosters as recommended. When wearing a mask, please ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

Correct response: Who is Juliette Gordon Low?

Did you know that you can now find game-by-game stats of everyone, now including Matt Amodio, Jonathan Fisher, and Amy Schneider, who has won 10 or more games on Jeopardy!, here on the site?

More information about Final Jeopardy: (The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2022 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

Juliette Gordon Low was the founder of the Girl Scouts of America; she patented the organization’s famed trefoil emblem shortly after the organization’s founding. When she decided to step down as President of the organization a few years later, she transferred the patent to the organization, in exchange for Low’s name being kept on the organization’s stationery (and membership cards) in perpetuity.

19 Comments on "Today’s Final Jeopardy – Tuesday, February 22, 2022"

  1. I guessed Clara Barton, but she was already dead by then.

  2. Just wondering, does the announcer introduce Ken as “hosting Jeopardy,” but he introduces Mayim as “the host of Jeopardy.” This is how I’m hearing it. If I’m correct, why the difference?

    • There is a whole write-up on that. I read it last night. Look it up. (Maybe just scroll through Yahoo news items as that is where I saw it.)

      • I think it’s all speculation. My comment of several weeks — maybe more— ago on this cite was “res ipsa loquitur”. For whatever reason, the powers that be are being coy/tight-lipped/whatever.

        • I think “res ipsa loquitur” is well out-of-bounds. Accusing the show of negligence because it’s not responding to what I believe is a supremely silly question is uncalled for.

    • It’s weird and awkward, isn’t it? Michael Richards was introduced as “The executive producer of Jeopardy, Michael Richards” during his guest hosting stint. Introducing Ken as “The consulting producer of Jeopardy, Ken Jennings” would have been accurate and a fitting nod to his role as a company man filling in when needed.

Johnny should record some bits to accompany Ken’s various other daily to-dos. “And now, doing the dishes, Ken Jennings!”

    • I think it’s because Mayim has been officially brought on as Host, while Ken hasn’t and they don’t want people to misinterpret things. Ken is not the official long-term host (at least not yet), while Mayim has been brought on for that role specifically, hence the difference.

  3. This should be easy for any Girl Scout.

tch I remembered (after a while) the trefoil symbol being associated with Girl Scouts, but I don’t remember ever even hearing the name of Juliette Gordon Low before.

    • I realized immediately that trefoil = Girl Scouts. I figured it had to have been their founder, who I HAD heard of before (more than once), but I could not remember her name — only that it rhymed with Harriet Beecher Stowe!

  5. Any girl scouts of america should know Low. The trefoil symbol definitely was associated with the girl scouts. The Women of the World Trivia also had that question about the founder of the girl scouts. I thought Hieu had a good chance of scoring a one day champion contender but that baker response cost him the game.

  6. I thought of Lady Baden Powell who started the Girl Guides but she is from England. Being from Canada you knew all about her if u were a Brownie or Girl Guide. I think wr had a similar symbol.

    • The reason I knew this one is because I knew a good bit about Robert Baden-Powell, who started the Boy Scouts. They helped Low get GSA going.

  7. The Girl Scouts even sell shortbread cookies called Trefoils.

Anyone know the clue and question, from tonight, about school grades and Starship? Tried to listen, but, stupid dog would not shut up! It was one of the last clues before the break between Jeopardy and Double Jeopardy! Please, this is one clue I really want to know!

    • TWEETS $800: In 2017 a fan asked this “Starships” rapper to pay her tuition; she tweeted, “Show me straight A’s… and I’ll pay” (& did)

(Correct response: Who is Nicki Minaj?)
