Will Srimal or Aaron end Ryan’s streak today?

Hall of Fame Colts and Broncos quarterback Peyton Menning launched Omaha Productions in 2021 for his television work; “Omaha” is significant as the city was often used in Manning’s play-calling “audible” signals in his NFL career. The most prominent program produced by the company would very likely be NBC’s Capital One College Bowl; interestingly, former Jeopardy! executive producer Harry Friedman (he was EP before Mike Richards) came out of retirement to help produce the upcoming second season of this.
Personally: I hope that all players give both first and last name tonight on this specific Final, as there are other Mannings involved (Eli was also a prominent NFL quarterback and Cooper was part of College Bowl as well)—I don’t want to see the controversy that will ensue (in either direction) if a player just says “Manning”. One note, though: Any ruling on this would come from the judges, not the host. It is inappropriate to pin any sort of blame on Mayim (or Ken) on Final Jeopardy! rulings. The judges have the ability to see the Final Jeopardy! responses as they’re being written; they then communicate their respective rulings to the host to rule as the response is being revealed to the viewers.

(As an editorial note: I will not be posting the category names today as computerized algorithms don’t understand context very well and I would prefer not to risk demonetization over the third category in today’s Double Jeopardy! round.)
Aaron took full advantage of a tired champion, running off nine correct responses before the opening break! Unfortunately, he missed the first Daily Double for his only incorrect response in the opening segment. Coming out of the Break, Ryan found his footing and got six correct of his own! Single Jeopardy! ended with Aaron leading at $6,400, with Ryan at $4,600 and Srimal at $800.
Double Jeopardy! Round:
Double Jeopardy! was very much a two-horse race today; Srimal picked up the first Daily Double early, though a conservative bet didn’t help her score much. Aaron got the last Daily Double correct, but he also went conservative—I was hoping for a more aggressive Daily Double bet from Aaron, especially when facing a double-digit champion. Unfortunately for Ryan, he wasn’t quite able to catch Aaron, who held the lead going into Final. Scores going into Final were Aaron at $14,800, Ryan at $13,000, and Srimal at $7,000.
In Final Jeopardy! today, only Ryan was correct, which means he’s now an 11-day champion! He goes for win #12 on Monday!

Aaron pulled out some deep cuts. He might’ve been able to put together a nice run of his own if he hadn’t run into Ryan.
If I were judge, I would accept “Manning” as correct, viewing Peyton as the default Manning.
Good game. Being “forced” to watch football my whole life, this was easy to me. Always surprised me when my friends didn’t watch football every Saturday and Sunday during the fall 🙃 😄
I like Ryan but his FJ betting doesn’t make sense. He could have bet between $1801and $5999 to cover Srimal and overtake Aaron and still have a chance win if he was wrong.
Aaron bet $0 hoping Ryan would be wrong rather than he (Aaron) would be right,an interesting strategy. It seems natural that the leader would bet on themself being right but are there ant statstics on correct FJ responses, for all contestants and for 1st, 2nd and 3rd separately? I could be wrong but it seems FJ has gotten more difficult since the days of Alex.
Sports lends itself to unique bets. There’s a clear divide between contestants who’ve been dreaming their whole lives of a sports category on Jeopardy and those who don’t even view it as worth their time to study. I recall a similar wager paying off a few years ago on an easy (for me) Final about Phil Mickelson that was a triple stumper. What I like about Ryan is that he dominates regular person stuff like movies, TV and sports while also knowing more traditional Jeopardy material like Lake Baikal.
