Today’s Final Jeopardy – Friday, March 7, 2025

Warning: This page contains spoilers for the March 7, 2025, game of Jeopardy! — please do not scroll down if you wish to avoid being spoiled. Please note that the game airs as early as noon Eastern in some U.S. television markets.

Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Science Fiction) for Friday, March 7, 2025 (Season 41, Game 130):

Name shared by a groundbreaking magazine launched in April 1926 & a TV anthology series that premiered in September 1985

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Roger Ghaman, a TV editor & substitute teacher from Studio City, California
Roger Ghaman on Jeopardy!
Omar Abu Realh, an aerospace engineer from Annandale, Virginia
Omar Abu Realh on Jeopardy!
Laura Faddah, a manager from Memphis, Tennessee (7-day total: $87,400)
Laura Faddah on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

The exciting 2025 postseason came to an end yesterday, as the syndicated version of Jeopardy! returns to regular play. We return with 7-day champion Laura Faddah defending her title against Virginia engineer Omar Abu Realh and California TV editor Roger Ghaman.

One thing that I find absolutely baffling, though, is so much of the viewer dislike of the new order of Jeopardy!—essentially, the build-up to Jeopardy! Masters and the need to give as many players as possible a shot at that Masters showcase—basically amounts to “how dare ABC, actually wanting to give air time to our favorite program in prime time, the absolute audacity of them!” I will tell you: most fanbases would be absolutely killing for the amount of exposure Jeopardy! gets—just look at how upset Wheel of Fortune superfan Robert Santoli has been over the years at the thought of Jeopardy! getting more exposure than Wheel.

For those of you looking forward to the return of Stephen Fry on UK television screens in Series 2 of Jeopardy!, good news on that front was released this week: Series 2 of Jeopardy! in the United Kingdom returns at 3:00 PM UK time on March 17, airing on ITV1/ITVX. This series will consist of 25 episodes, airing until April 18. For those wanting to follow in North America, things are slightly more complicated due to the airdates straddling the time change in the United Kingdom. Due to the fact that the UK switches to British Summer Time on March 30 (instead of on March 9, when the clocks change in North America), the series will be airing at 11:00 AM EDT for the first two weeks and at 10:00 AM EDT for the final three.

Created by Hugo Gernsback in 1926, Amazing Stories was the first dedicated science fiction magazine; it published the first stories of such later luminaries in the genre as Isaac Asimov and Ursula K. Le Guin. Its name was licensed to Steven Spielberg in the 1985s to title Spielberg’s science fiction anthology series, that lasted for two seasons in the 1980s.

20 Comments on "Today’s Final Jeopardy – Friday, March 7, 2025"

  1. I didn’t get it, but I remember seeing the episode “The Mission” with the aspiring cartoonist who is the gunner in an airplane whose landing gear has been destroyed, and he is trapped in the belly of the plane. I highly recommend it.

  2. All I could think of in 30 seconds was National Geographic, but that doesn’t really fit the category does it?

  3. It’s great that now we are back to regular Jeopardy! game play—for the final 21 weeks of season 41

Perhaps Laura can win an 8th game today, and finally break $100,000.

    • She did win an 8th game but, somewhat miraculously, she is still significantly under $100,000. Is that some sort of record for number of wins and still being under $100K? Not criticizing as I think it is phenomenal that she has that many wins with such low totals, just asking out of curiosity. At this rate, she could conceivably squeeze a ninth win in and still be under $100K. Good for Laura, hope she gets a ninth win on Monday.

      • It is a record. The next lowest winnings total through eight wins of anyone who won that many or more is $138,100 (Drew Horwood in 2013).

I will note in passing that this is likely considered by Andy to be a “negative record” — and accordingly, it’s The Jeopardy! Fan editorial policy not to report or comment on such things.

        • That is likely true about being designated a negative record, but it is a positive that someone can keep pulling out wins without any really big numbers.

I view Jeopardy! as a fact based activity. And as in other competitions, a win is a win independent of scoring.

The fact is she is now an 8 game winner and two games away from being in the elite and amazing group of superchampions.

  4. I remembered the Spielberg-backed show but misremembered the name and came up with “Astounding Stories”. That’s OK. Also happy to be returning to regular play. Good luck to all.

    • I wonder if Laura was in a similar situation as you, maybe recalling that the title had a cadence(?) like “Unsolved Mysteries” or “Astounding Stories”, but could not recall it enough to even get as close to “Amazing Stories” as you did.

I don’t believe I would have recalled “Amazing Stories” even with more factors in the clue, though upon finding out the correct response I immediately remembered knowing of it.

My best guess was OMNI, though I strongly suspected it did not date back to 1926 and boy, was I right about that! I’ve had a subscription to OMNI a couple of separate periods, so as it came out in 1978, I may have started my first subscription when it first came out.

  5. Why was Coolidge not accepted in the Secret Service category? There are many times just a last name is okay. She was only First Lady with that last name.

  6. Found this tougher than any of the J.I.T. FJs.

  7. Well, this was the first of the 3 shows that I saw taped on January 27th and I didn’t know FJ in studio and I still didn’t remember it today. LOL

Always great to see someone become an 8 day champ when you’re there. 🙂

Will Laura get that 9th win on Monday? We’ll see! Have a great weekend everyone! 🙂

Oh, I almost forgot. We, the audience at this taping, were quite impressed with Omar’s comeback to make it to FJ.

  8. Re: Nacho Business, $600:

This snack brand known for its packs of crackers & Oscar Mayer deli meats also sells a Spicy Nachos snack kit

I had just finished eating exactly that not 15 minutes before the show began. This show scares me sometimes.

  9. I knew FJ right away. I remember the series being underappreciated in its day and that it lasted a second season only because of contractual obligation. I taped every episode, but I don’t remember ever re-watching them, and although I may still have those tapes I doubt they are playable even if I could get my hands on a VHS tape player.
