Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category TV 2025) for Monday, October 6, 2025 (Season 42, Game 21):

The star of this new streaming drama said, “Nobody could gain a pound, lose a pound…we had to look exactly the same for 7 months”

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Kate Kostelnik, a personal trainer from Orlando, Florida
Kate Kostelnik on Jeopardy!
Brian Dixon, a server from Atlanta, Georgia
Brian Dixon on Jeopardy!
TJ Fisher, a marketing specialist from San Francisco, California (2-day total: $38,889)
TJ Fisher on Jeopardy!

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

Week #5 of Season 42 begins today with TJ Fisher going for victory #3 against Brian Dixon and Kate Kostelnik.

In case anyone was wondering, I decided that I would rather publish editorial thoughts this morning in my preview instead of separately on the weekend. What would have been the separate editorial is now in the paragraphs below.

Firstly, I’d like to thank TV Insider and The Sun for their citations of Friday’s unique-to-regular-play triple-zero-bet-in-Final situation. It does give me enjoyment to be able to report on these sorts of unique happenstances, and I’m more than happy to do so when my reporting is cited properly when it ends up elsewhere.

There have been times during his run when TJ has seemed to be one of the best players in Jeopardy! history when it comes to timing on the signalling device; if this keeps up, I would say his comments last week about being “a coward” when it comes to Daily Double betting is probably a good thing. Being able to find the Daily Doubles just to keep them out of your opponents’ hands (even if you’re only picking up a few thousand from them yourself) is a very valid victory strategy, especially if those opponents are starved of opportunity to get in themselves by ringing in.

For those fans who might have been hoping that an expanded postseason field is happening, I don’t have particularly great news to report this morning: On Camera Audiences only shows tape days on November 18 & 19, following November 4–6 (what is currently presumed to be the three weeks of Second Chance). Unfortunately, the fact that Champions Wildcard appears to be taping over just two weeks is currently a grave disappointment, and it once again brings up one very glaring issue: Looking back at the game from September 26, had Prasad Patil chosen to punt Final Jeopardy instead of answering it correctly, Prasad would have been just about guaranteed a Second Chance return, and Vickie Talvola very like would be at least in a Champions Wildcard position. This incentivizes behavior that should never happen on a game show, where it would have been better for Prasad’s postseason chances to lose instead of win. I believe this is an unforgivable flaw in the entire postseason format as it stands right now. Either Champions Wildcard needs to be significantly expanded or Second Chance needs to be excised in the interest of fairness, but this half-measure is not an acceptable solution.

Correct response: What is The Pitt?

(The following write-up is original content and is copyright 2025 The Jeopardy! Fan. It may not be copied without linked attribution back to this page.)

Due to the fact that Season 1 of The Pitt taped over a series of months, but was set over a 15-hour period in a Pittsburgh emergency room, continuity was incredibly important, as star Noah Wyle detailed in publicity interviews earlier this year. In order to preserve the “this entire season is set over a single day” continuity, the cast had to look exactly the same at the end of shooting as they did the start. The series has been one of the streaming hits of 2025, though, with a second “day” coming in January.

One thing I do like from the writers here is to specify that this clue is going to be about current television, so that players can calibrate their betting accordingly. That being said: current television, with the increased fracturing in the television landscape, is probably going to turn into a “punt” category for a lot of players, much like sports often turns into the same. I am very interested in seeing what happens with the betting in today’s game.

(Categories: Pre-21st Century Fantasy Literature; Awards & Honors; Crossword Clues “F”; A Country But Not A Country; Band Of Sisters; Feeding Time At The Zoo)

Kate 13 correct 3 incorrect
Total number of unplayed clues this season: 3 (0 today).

A rare mistake from Ken during today’s Final Jeopardy round—he said TJ was going for his third win tomorrow! (Today was his third win, he goes for #4 tomorrow.) Final Jeopardy was a Triple Stumper, for what it’s worth.

Tonight’s results:

Kate $3,000 – $0 = $3,000 (What is the Biggest Loser?)
Brian $3,000 – $3,000 = $0 (What is Severence?)
TJ $21,200 – $165 = $21,035 (What is the very sad diet??) (3-day total: $59,924)

18 Comments on "Today’s Final Jeopardy – Monday, October 6, 2025"

  1. The Pitt. Great new show. Looking forward to Day Two.

  2. Seems like an interesting premise for the show. Now I need to know what streaming service shows it.

  3. My cousin is a retired teacher of the gifted, and one of her former students, Slade Gilmer, is going to be on Jeopardy tomorrow. I am looking forward to hearing Johnny Gilbert introduce him as being “originally from Russellville, Alabama” (my hometown also).

  4. Andy! Hello!! Just watched the game here in Philadelphia.

I was surprised that Ken’s statement was not corrected in post-production.

    Any comment?

    • Keeping these little harmless mistakes generates buzz, and there’s no such thing as bad publicity as P. T. Barnum once said.

      • If this was 2019 or 2020, I’d completely agree with you… but we’re unfortunately in an era where any mistakes from the show – no matter how minor – get turned into countless tabloid articles about fan reactions that are all collectively worth less than [rest of sentence left blank so as to let the reader finish this with their own interpretation]. Not only is this constant stream of negativity enough to reduce a lot of people’s (including Andy’s) enjoyment of the show, but – based on comments made by him around 14 months ago – actively make Ken feel as though he is the scapegoat and at fault for this whenever anything happens. And considering the absolutely monumental shoes he was left to fill, that’s the last thing he needs.

    • Hi Rick! I have a hunch that it was probably missed by the producers as well, because I think they would have corrected it.

      Just my 2 cents though!

      I hope that you’re doing well! 🙂

  5. MasterDoge!

Thanks for the clear and useful comments [… as usual].

I guess I have a unique experience of the show – I just watch the show and only use this AMAZING site.

  6. Meaning I am not on social media and don’t read any of the ‘tabloid articles’.

  7. Jeff! I in turn hope hope you and your family are well.

Thanks for asking after me… I am in the midst of handling my late Beloved brother’s affairs – legal, financial, and real estate.

    • Rick, My heartfelt sympathy to you for the loss of your beloved brother. I hope settling his affairs goes as quickly and smoothly as possible. I truly hope you can find comfort in your memories of him.

      • Mary!

Thanks so much for the kind sweet compassionate words.

I started watching Jeopardy! regularly while caregiving for our mom. She and I would watch together!

        • Hi Rick! Like Mary said, I hope that settling your beloved brother’s affairs goes well and is finished ASAP. I worked in a funeral home before, so I understand the situation you are in and I hope that the funeral home you chose has made things as easy as possible for you and your family.

          • Jeff!

Thanks for the kind and compassionate words.

Yes the funeral director was extremely helpful – same one I used when our beloved mom passed away in June 2022.

  8. I’m so glad to hear that Rick.
