In the well-known Broadway musical that got adapted into 2024’s Wicked, Boq is a Munchkin who pined for Glinda; eventually, he was turned into the Tin Woodsman. As I said back in April when this originally aired, I thought that knowledge of Wicked would be more important here than knowledge of L. Frank Baum’s original work; I seem to recall Ken leaning on Wizard of Oz for some reason in his own explanation onscreen. In any case, though, this played 0-for-3 in studio.

Game Recap:
If one just looked at the Coryat scores, one might think this was a close game; things ended with Bryce at $12,400 and Alfred at $12,000. However, the Daily Doubles proved to be quite important. Bryce doubled up through DD1 to take a big lead into the break, while Alfred lost $3,000 on DD3 when betting for the lead in a comeback attempt. Bryce was in a runaway position for much of the round, but Alfred’s late run, picking up half of the final 10 clues, at least meant that Final Jeopardy meant something, but with Bryce at more than 1.5 times Alfred’s score, Alfred needed to be correct on a clue where Bryce wasn’t. Mary also had a faint hope of victory, but she also needed a singleton get for herself.
Although everyone bet generally well in Final in hopes of victory, the faint hope of our challengers was extinguished by a Triple Stumper in Final as Bryce took victory #4. Next week’s rerun sees Bryce take a chance at win #5 against Mike Dawson and Guy Branum.
Scores going into Final:
Bryce $16,000
Alfred $10,600
Mary $6,000
Tonight’s results:
Mary $6,000 – $5,999 = $1 (What is a Lilliputian?)
Alfred $10,600 – $10,000 = $600 (What are lili)
Bryce $16,000 – $5,201 = $10,799 (What are lilliputians dwarves) (4-day total: $70,199)
Game Stats:
Bryce $12,400 Coryat, 20 correct, 1 incorrect, 35.09% in first on buzzer (20/57), 0/0 on rebound attempts (on 4 rebound opportunities)
Alfred $12,000 Coryat, 18 correct, 5 incorrect, 33.33% in first on buzzer (19/57), 1/2 on rebound attempts (on 2 rebound opportunities)
Mary $6,000 Coryat, 12 correct, 2 incorrect, 19.30% in first on buzzer (11/57), 2/3 on rebound attempts (on 4 rebound opportunities)
Combined Coryat Score: $30,400
Lach Trash: $11,000 (on 9 Triple Stumpers)
Coryat lost to incorrect responses (less double-correct responses): $12,600
Lead Changes: 3
Times Tied: 1
