More information about Final Jeopardy:

While the four riders are said to symbolize Conquest, War, Famine, and Death, only Death is mentioned specifically, first in Revelation 6:8: And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Andy’s Thoughts:

  • Kate’s mother was Roz Jay, who was defeated by 5-time champion Tom Halpern on March 25, 1991.
  • $101,682 is now the 5th-highest one-day total of all time on Jeopardy, displacing yesterday’s total from the 5th spot. He now holds all 10 of the top 10 one-day totals in the history of the show.
  • James has tied Julia Collins’ 20 wins for the second-longest winning streak in regular play on Jeopardy.
  • It took Ken Jennings 46 games ($1,555,061) to pass James’ current total of $1,528,012.
  • James has now heard 181 consecutive clues without giving an incorrect response. This passes Liz Haigney Lynch’s previous record by 2.
  • James’ Coryat score of $38,200 is the second-best Coryat score of all time; the record is still Ken Jennings’ $39,200 on June 10, 2004.
  • At 723, James has passed Brad Rutter for #2 on the all-time list in terms of number of correct responses given on the show.
  • This is the 14th consecutive episode where James has been correct in Final Jeopardy (the previous record was 12, held by Ben Ingram and Tom Cubbage).
  • The prediction model currently gives James a 71.286% chance of surpassing Ken Jennings’ regular play winnings total of $2,520,700.
  • On Wednesdays, James has an average winning score of $90,188.

4 Comments on "Today’s Final Jeopardy – May 1, 2019"

  1. Is there a list of top Coryat scores somewhere? I know you have stated Ken has most of the top 10 all time pre-James, but is that list posted? Perhaps a list of all the >30,000 games? It seems of the contestants who won 10+ games not named Ken or James, there are only 2 games with a Coryat greater than 30,000. But now James has 10 such games and Ken had over 20.

  2. I am so awed by James’s knowledge and recall capacities!!! We certainly are not all created equally! Andy: could you provide a list of the Top 25 one-day money winners in Jeopardy history? (Although Mr. Levin’s total of $53,999 wasn’t awarded to him, I feel you should include it on this list.)
    Thanks!
