Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Cable Networks) for Thursday, February 4, 2021 (Season 37, Game 94):
In March 1979 Tip O’Neill & then-representative Al Gore were the first politicians to speak on this new cable channel
(correct response beneath the contestants)
In case you missed it: Jeopardy! announced four more guest hosts this week. Three of those picks are a good idea. The fourth is a nearly unanimously unpopular pick with fans and former contestants alike.
Today’s contestants:
Gina Damico, an author originally from Syracuse, New York![]() |
Stuart Crane, a product line manager from Kalispell, Montana![]() |
Nicole Kozdron, an attorney originally from Elyria, Ohio (1-day total: $18,700)![]() |
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts: Nicole took down a 2-time champion in a runaway game yesterday. If the clues fall her way, she’ll be able to make it 2 games. A contestant that is able to take advantage of Daily Doubles might have an advantage against Nicole, though. We’ll see what happens!
PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to abide by physical distancing guidelines and when you are not able to do so, properly wear a mask. Ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

Andy’s Thoughts:
- Stuart’s wager in Final Jeopardy is what is known as a “Lazarus wager” as it resurrected Gina’s win chances; had Stuart bet between $2,601 and $2,799, he would have kept Gina’s win chances at 0%.

Thought the exact same thing about Stuart’s wager (but didn’t know it had a name). As you (Andy)pointed out, he could have bet enough to assure the win if he got it right and still covered himself from losing to Gina if he got it wrong.
The name was coined by Keith Williams a few years ago when he was doing The Final Wager.
I knew the unanswered ‘Plains of Abraham’ question because it’s in the second line of Geddy Lee’s solo song ‘My Favorite Headache’!
I knew the unanswered ‘Plains of Abraham’ question from Robbie Robertson’s (The Band) masterpiece, Acadian Driftwood.
They signed a treaty
And our homes were taken
Loved-ones forsaken,
They didn’t give a damn.
Try to raise a family
End up an enemy
Over what went down on the Plains of Abraham.
Do you have the exact Answer from the History Across the Ages category in Double Jeopardy where the question was “What is Sugar?” This was my youngest child’s first solo correct response while watching with the family and I’d love to be able to remember it. Big milestone!
