Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
Our second game this week sees the three third-place finishes from the opening set of Knockout Round matches in Neilesh Vinjamuri, Juveria Zaheer, and Brad Rutter. This is a must-win game, with the winner advancing to the quarterfinals and the other two players going home. The Unified Prediction Model gives Brad a 37% chance of winning, Juveria a 32% chance, and Neilesh a 31% chance. Brad hasn’t had a good game since the 2019 All-Star Games final—he will absolutely need to channel the Brad of old in order to make it through this game. Part of me is expecting to see one of the more dramatic games in the history of the show, considering the stakes—but we shall see.

Andy’s Thoughts:
- Brad Rutter is still very much an elite Jeopardy! player. However, I do think it’s important to note just how strong the current crop of top players are—and the Unified Prediction Model has borne that out.

Was happy to see Brad play well last night. Reminded me of his glory years. Hopefully that erases (at least a little) some of the sting of his non-performance in the GOAT tournament with Ken and James. Juveria played a great game. Getting all 3 DDs was the difference.
Interesting to see Brad has $56,300 on DDs over his Jeopardy career. 45 of 58 correct. Game has really changed. Also see that on recent Game Show Network airing some of Ken’s original streak games. So common to see players starting at the top of each category and working their way down. Game play has really stepped up to new levels in the last couple of years.
Victoria played well last night in her game. Seems like it will be Victoria and Yogesh battling it out again this year. Other strong contestants remaining though too. Matt seems like he is a half step behind but he is in tough company. Looking forward to the remainder of the tournament.
I know the format had to change when they expanded the field to 9, but I liked it when every player got to play everyone else at least once.
I was an orchestra geek in high school (the stereotypical Asian American kid that played violin), so the FJ was a pretty easy get for me. Plus, I’ve frequented Tanglewood quite a bit over the years.
I was unable to provide a guess for this FJ! but had it been a multiple choice with Copeland, Bernstein, and Fiedler, I would have picked Copeland.
I thought Bernstein, When it was revealed that he wasn’t the correct response, I thought Gerswin, CopelaND WASN’T EVEB ON MY RAdaR.
