Mayim Bialik will no longer host syndicated episodes of Jeopardy, according to a statement released by her on social media this evening.
“Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy! I am incredibly honoured to have been nominated for a primetime Emmy for hosting this year and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the Jeopardy! family. For all of you who have supported me through this incredible journey and to the fans, contestants, writers, staff and crew of America’s Favorite Quiz Show, thank you.”

Jeopardy! has now released its own statement on social media, stating “We made the decision to have one host for the syndicated show next season to maintain continuity for our viewers, and Ken Jennings will be the sole host for syndicated Jeopardy!. We are truly grateful for all of Mayim’s contributions to Jeopardy!, and we hope to continue to work with her on primetime specials.”
It should be noted that Mayim did respect the WGA picket line, electing not to host episodes while the Writers Guild of America was on strike as the show continued into Season 40 with recycled clues. According to Hollywood insider reports published over the weekend, her contract was scheduled not to be renewed for Season 41, with not hosting during the strike being cited to these insiders as a reason for her dismissal. When she found out her contract was not up for renewal, she then elected not to host any Season 40 games.
I would also like to make it abundantly clear that any social media posts made by Mayim on current events were specifically not cited by these Hollywood insiders; I think we can safely believe that any claims that Mayim was fired for any social media activity are thus categorically false, and anyone making those claims can be safely ignored.
Editorially, I wish Mayim Bialik the best in her future endeavors. She was an adequate host, but it definitely seems as though Ken Jennings really grew into the hosting position, and it makes sense to have a singular face of the show.

It really doesn’t surprise me that Mayim is no longer with the show. Having alternating hosts never made sense to me. I couldn’t see the logic of it. How many game shows are out there with two alternating hosts? Well, anyway, I wish Mayim the best.
I will miss her.
